Qur'an Bible Comparison Suras 10 - 22

Is the Muslim sacred book - Qur'an (Koran) really given by God? This series shows where it disagrees with the Bible. Praise God for sending his only begotten son - Jesus Christ who will judge righteously, burning up the wicked in a lake of fire that extinguishes their life and wickedness, not making them suffer forever.

68 They say: Allah has taken (unto Him) a son - Glorified be He! He has no needs! His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. You have no warrant for this. Tell you concerning Allah that which you know not?
69 Say: Verily those who invent a lie concerning Allah will not succeed.
70 This world's portion (will be theirs), then unto Us is their return. Then We make them taste a dreadful doom because they used to disbelieve.
Proverbs2:7 He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, you are my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
IISamuel 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
The Lord says he wants to have a father-son relationship with us. He said very clearly concerning Jesus that he was the Son, and that Jesus came forth from the Father. The god of the Qur'an is very aloof, but the God of the Bible desires a very close relationship with us. Ah, yes, I WILL tell concerning Allah that which he doesn't know (doesn't acknowledge).

Sura 11:42 And it sailed with them amid waves like mountains, and Noah cried unto his son - and he was standing aloof - O my son! Come ride with us, and be not with the disbelievers.
43 He said: I shall betake me to some mountain that will save me from the water. (Noah) said: This day there is none that saves from the commandment of Allah save him on whom He has had mercy. And the wave came in between them, so he was among the drowned.
Genesis 6:10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and you shall come into the ark, you, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come you and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
7:5 And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
Did one of Noah's sons die in the world-wide flood? The Bible and Qur'an disagree on this event. The Qur'an's account sounds impossible from a physical standpoint too doesn't it?

74 And when the awe departed from Abraham, and the glad news reached him, he pleaded with Us on behalf of the folk of Lot.
75 Lo! Abraham was mild, imploring, penitent.
76 (It was said) O Abraham! Forsake this! Lo! thy Lord's commandment has gone forth, and lo! there comes unto them a doom which cannot be repelled.
Genesis 18:23 And Abraham drew near, and said, will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: will you also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
The Bible says the Lord listened to Abraham's request, and accepted it. The Qur'an, faithful to its aloof god, says that their doom cannot be repelled. "Doom and Gloom" could be one of the subtitles for the Qur'an.

114 Establish worship at the two ends of the day and in some watches of the night. Lo! good deeds annul ill-deeds. This is reminder for the mindful.
Ezekiel 33:13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he has committed, he shall die for it.
Good deeds annul ill deeds?!? Hmmmm, if I want to do steal my neighbor's car, how many good deeds would I have to do to get back into god's favor? The God of the Bible doesn't work that way. The only way to get right with God again is to repent sincerely from the heart, and turn away from evil.

Sura 16:4 He has created man from a drop of fluid, yet behold! he is an open opponent.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
The Qur'an has several places where it talks about man being made out of "fluid" or a "clot". The Bible says man was made from the ground.

Sura 17:78 Establish worship at the going down of the sun until the dark of night, and (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn. Lo! (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed.
79 And some part of the night awake for it, a largess for thee. It may be that thy Lord will raise thee to a praised estate.

Again, this seems to be related to 11:114. Doing these rituals seems to make Allah happy.

111 And say: Praise be to Allah, Who has not taken unto Himself a son, and Who has no partner in the Sovereignty, nor has He any protecting friend through dependence. And magnify Him with all magnificence.
Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
Christ will be sovereign over the whole world and reign forever and ever - but not with Allah!

Sura 18:4 And to warn those who say: Allah has chosen a son,
5 (A thing) whereof they have no knowledge, nor (had) their fathers, Dreadful is the word that comes out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie.
Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear you him.
OK, I agree with the Qur'an on this.....Allah has no son, but GOD does.

74 So they twain journeyed on till, when they met a lad, he slew him. (Moses) said: What! Have you slain an innocent soul who has slain no man ? Verily you have done a horrid thing.
80 And as for the lad, his parents were believers and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief.
81 And we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in purity and nearer to mercy.

Kill a person when they had done nothing wrong. Sounds like whoever gave the Qur'an to Mohammed is not very nice. Sad to see this ayat used today by some to justify killing their own family members.

Sura 19:10 He said: My Lord! Appoint for me some token. He said: Thy token is that you, with no bodily defect, shall not speak unto mankind three nights.     (Speaking of Zechariah, John the Baptist's father)
Luke 1:20 And, behold, you shall be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because you believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
The Qur'an says John the Baptist's father could not speak for 3 nights, but the Bible says it was around 9 months.

17 And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her Our Spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man.
18 She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if you are God- fearing.
19 He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a faultless son.
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Now the Qur'an is dissing the Holy Spirit too. First in making him like the perfect lover, then by calling him a "messenger", not God.

22 And she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place.
23 And the pangs of childbirth drove her unto the trunk of the palm-tree. She said: Oh, would that I had died ere this and had become a thing of naught, forgotten!
24 Then (one) cried unto her from below her, saying: Grieve not! Thy Lord has placed a rivulet beneath thee,
25 And shake the trunk of the palm-tree toward thee, you will cause ripe dates to fall upon thee.
Luke 2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
The story of Jesus' birth with Mary clinging to a palm tree in the Qur'an is very different from the manger as told in the Bible.

29 Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we talk to one who is in the cradle, a young boy?
30 He spake: Lo! I am the slave of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and has appointed me a Prophet,
31 And has made me blessed wheresoever I may be, and has enjoined upon me prayer and almsgiving so long as I remain alive,
32 And (has made me) dutiful toward her who bore me, and has not made me arrogant, unblest.
33 Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!
34 Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt.
35 It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should take unto Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decrees a thing, He says unto it only: Be! and it is.
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom you have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me: for you lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father, the world has not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that you have sent me.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
This story of Jesus speaking from the cradle in the Qur'an is often used to show the Qur'an respects Jesus by showing his miraculous nature. Many stories in the Qur'an show things just a bit different from the Bible, but usually with this added cut - Allah has no son, and Jesus is a slave of Allah. Yet Jesus said he was with his Father before this world was. He was, is, and forever will be not a slave, but the Ruler of the entire universe!

88 And they say: The Beneficent has taken unto Himself a son.
89 Assuredly you utter a disastrous thing

90 Whereby almost the heavens are torn, and the earth is split asunder and the mountains fall in ruins,
91 That you ascribe unto the Beneficent a son,
92 When it is not meet for (the Majesty of) the Beneficent that He should choose a son.
93 There is none in the heavens and the earth but comes unto the Beneficent as a slave.
John 16:27 For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
The Qur'an, written 600 years or so after the Gospels, calls Jesus a liar. Was Jesus deluded in thinking he was the Son of God? Was he really just a slave, but got confused, thinking he was actually THE SON? We cannot come to Allah except as a slave, but God in the Bible wants us to come to him like a son. Which would you rather approach God as?

Sura 20:74 Lo! whoso comes guilty unto his Lord, verily for him is hell. There he will neither die nor live.
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Allah's hell is some continual roaster where we neither live nor die. God's hell is a lake of fire that will burn up all the wickedness in the universe. It is called the second death. After it has done its job, this earth will be remade :)

Sura 21:26 And they say: The Beneficent has taken unto Himself a son. Be He Glorified! Nay, but (those whom they call sons) are honoured slaves;
John 13:31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
Jesus, the Son of man, was glorified - not just an honored slave! Notice that God received glory from his Son too.

34 We appointed immortality for no mortal before thee. What! if you die, can they be immortal!
Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
IIKings 22:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Nobody immortal before Mohammed? What about these two men - Enoch and Elijah? Perhaps the two angels who gave this to Mohammed forgot about these two men?

Sura 22:19 These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads,
20 Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted;
21 And for them are hooked rods of iron.
22 Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning.

23 Lo! Allah will cause those who believe and do good works to enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will be allowed armlets of gold, and pearls, and their raiment therein will be silk.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
God's fire will burn up the wicked, then there shall be no more pain. Allah's fire (and boiling fluid?) will provide pain forever and ever. Who has the true fire? Whose word should we obey?

26 And (remember) when We prepared for Abraham the place of the (holy) House, saying: Ascribe you no thing as partner unto Me, and purify My House for those who make the round (thereof) and those who stand and those who bow and make prostration.
27 And proclaim unto mankind the pilgrimage. They will come unto thee on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every deep ravine,
Daniel 3:7 Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
Remember, if the God of the Qur'an and Bible are the same, then we are required to go around some building over in Saudi Arabia and bow and prostrate ourselves before it (do the hajj). Abraham never did that in the Bible.

36 And the camels! We have appointed them among the ceremonies of Allah. Therein you have much good. So mention the name of Allah over them when they are drawn up in lines. Then when their flanks fall (dead), eat thereof and feed the beggar and the suppliant. In this way have We made them subject unto you, that haply you may give thanks.
Leviticus 11:4 Nevertheless these shall you not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
Hmmmmm....God says specifically not to eat camels, but Allah says to eat camels. Hmmmmm.

67 Unto each nation have We given sacred rites which they are to perform; so let them not dispute with thee of the matter, but summon you unto thy Lord. Lo! you indeed follow right guidance.
John 4:22 You worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
Matthew 6:7 But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Each nation has sacred rites?!? It sounds like the Qur'an is preaching ecumenism! God says that his followers should not worship or pray like the heathen. The only sacred rites for a Christian are Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

91 Allah has not chosen any son, nor is there any god along with Him; else would each god have assuredly championed that which he created, and some of them would assuredly have overcome others. Glorified be Allah above all that they allege.
Luke 9:35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
Allah doesn't claim Jesus as his son, but God does!!!
(^-^)

There are quite a lot more suras (chapters), to compare, but you may not want to wait to read them all before telling your friends about the true God who DOES have a son - Jesus Christ.
(^-^)
Non-Arabs just don't "get it" (26:198), but suras 23-37 are here anyway.
